Spanish property taxes for non-residents

What are the most common taxes you are required to pay as a non-resident
property owner in Spain?

  • Spanish Property Tax (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles, IBI in Spanish): Tax on a property’s assessed value. It is normally paid once a year to the City. Council where said property is registered.
  • Non-Resident Income Tax (Impuesto sobre la Renta para los No Residentes, IRNR in Spanish): This tax is applied to those who own a property anywhere in Spain but who do not reside here.
  • Wealth Tax (Impuesto sobre el Patrimonio, IP in Spanish): Even if natural persons are considered as non-residents in Spain, if they own a property here,they are subject to paying the Wealth Tax.
